Viewing Google Maps in full-screen mode on your Android device provides a more immersive mapping experience.

By maximizing the Map to full screen, you can more easily view directions, find locations, and navigate without distractions.

Enable Full Screen in Google Maps Settings

The easiest way to make Google Maps full-screen is to change its default settings:

  1. Open the Google Maps app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on the hamburger menu in the top left corner.
  3. Select “Settings” from the menu.
  4. Scroll down and tap on “Navigation settings.”
  5. Turn on the toggle for “Full-screen map.”

Now whenever you open Google Maps it will automatically open in full-screen mode.

You can toggle this setting off to revert back to default mode.

Enable Full Screen in Map View

You can also make Google Maps full-screen directly from the map view:

  1. Open Google Maps and navigate to a map view.
  2. Tap the full-screen icon in the top right corner that looks like two opposite arrows.
  3. The map will immediately switch to full-screen mode.

Tap the full-screen icon again to exit out of the full-screen view.

  3. Select “Add stop.”
  4. Search for your next destination and select it.
